Several countries backed a proposal to increase electricity's share of global final energy demand to 35 per cent by 2035. Experts argued that electrification could significantly improve energy efficiency while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The discussions highlighted growing international recognition that renewable electricity, electric vehicles and heat pumps will play a critical role in achieving climate goals, although disagreements remain over financing and implementation pathways.
