Philanthropist and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a $590 million environmental funding package to support renewable energy expansion, ocean conservation and air-pollution reduction. Climate experts welcomed the initiative, noting that many emerging economies still face institutional barriers despite renewable energy becoming increasingly cost-competitive.
