A rapid biodiversity survey released around World Environment Day has documented 30 species of raptors and six species of storks in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. Conducted in collaboration with researchers from Gauhati University, the study underscores the ecological importance of the UNESCO World Heritage Site beyond its famous one-horned rhinoceroses. Conservationists say the findings reinforce Kaziranga's role as a critical habitat for birds of prey and wetland-dependent species. The survey is expected to aid future conservation planning and strengthen biodiversity monitoring efforts across the Brahmaputra floodplains.
