MCD Prepares a Plan to Fight Dust

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has prepared a comprehensive plan to curb dust pollution on roads, dumping sites, and construction and demolition (C&D) waste points in the city. The plan, which will cost INR 523 crore, includes the procurement of 60 mechanical road sweepers for stretches 40–60 feet in width. MCD will request for INR 7.1 crore to upgrade the existing C&D waste sites with facilities such as metal barricades, display boards, water sprinklers, CCTV cameras, and air quality sensors. Officials stressed the urgency of these long-term measures with the winter approaching when dust pollution spikes.
