As dry weather prevailed, temperatures continued to hover over 32–33°C in many places across Kerala. Vellanikkara in Thrissur recorded the maximum at 36.1°C followed by Kottayam (35.5°C) and Cochin international airport (35°C) as per the 24-hour average temperatures data recorded recently in February 2023. According to the statement issued by the institute for climate change studies, from 1901 to 2022, both maximum and mean temperatures showed an increasing trend in all 14 districts of Kerala. It said that the annual maximum temperature during 2022 was 0.45-degrees warmer than the average taken from 1971 to 2020.
