Responsible E-Waste Management and Environmental Sustainability: Surya Roshni Partners with Local Co

Surya Roshni Limited reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability by conducting a comprehensive e-waste collection and awareness initiative across key residential communities in Punjab and Chandigarh. The initiative was carried out in partnership with authorized recycling agencies and local residential welfare associations to encourage the safe disposal and responsible recycling of electronic waste.

The awareness and collection drive was organized across Ansal's Woodbury Apartments in Zirakpur, Pushpac Society Complex and Nirvana Society in Chandigarh, and TDI-1 in Mohali. Residents were encouraged to responsibly dispose of end-of-life electrical and electronic products, including lighting products, electrical appliances, and other household electronic waste, ensuring that these materials are processed through authorized recycling channels.

As electronic consumption continues to rise across India, the challenge of managing discarded electrical and electronic equipment has become increasingly significant. Improper disposal of e-waste can lead to environmental contamination and loss of valuable recoverable resources. Through this initiative, Surya Roshni sought to create greater awareness among consumers regarding the importance of responsible disposal practices and the role every individual can play in building a more sustainable future.

The company has established a robust pan-India collection network that facilitates the safe and secure collection and transportation of e-waste from consumers to authorized recycling facilities. As a responsible producer and brand owner, Surya Roshni fully complies with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, Battery Waste Management Rules, and Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. The company works closely with government-approved and registered recyclers to ensure environmentally sound recycling and disposal of collected waste.

Speaking on the initiative, Vasumitra Pandey, CEO – Lighting & Consumer Durables, Surya Roshni Limited said, "Environmental responsibility is a shared commitment that requires active participation from businesses, communities, and consumers alike. Through our e-waste collection and awareness initiatives, we aim to encourage responsible disposal practices while ensuring that discarded products are recycled through authorized channels. Sustainability remains an integral part of our business philosophy, and we will continue to support initiatives that contribute to resource conservation and environmental protection."

Beyond consumer-facing initiatives, Surya Roshni has implemented clearly defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across its manufacturing operations to manage and mitigate e-waste generation. The company also supports advanced resource recovery processes that enable the treatment, recovery, and reuse of exhausted components, helping conserve valuable resources while minimizing environmental impact.

The e-waste management initiative forms part of Surya Roshni's broader sustainability agenda focused on environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, circular economy principles, and responsible manufacturing. By fostering awareness and facilitating safe recycling practices, the company continues to contribute towards creating a cleaner, safer, and greener future for generations to come.

With over 50 years of industry leadership, an annual turnover exceeding ₹7,500 crore, and exports to 50+ countries, Surya has emerged as India's largest ERW pipe exporter and a leading name in lighting and electrical solutions. The company remains committed to sustainable manufacturing, long-term partnerships, and creating enduring value for customers, communities,
and stakeholders. #
